Joeyfat

https://joeyfat.bandcamp.com/

Joeyfat are from Tunbridge Wells. The music they make springs from the duo that originally formed the band – the skewed spoken word meanderings of M Edward Cole, the knotweed dozen-riffs-a-song compositions of Jason Dormon over circuit-bent percussion. They describe their lives shows as “a mixture of science lecture and poorly-performed morality play to a soundtrack of a skipping CD player. Something like that anyway.”  Signed to Unlabel.

Upcdownc

http://upcdownc.com/

Playing mainly instrumental, pretty, heavy, fuzzy, noisy, synthy guitar based rock since 2000. This band are Medway favourites, giving us film soundtracks, post rock beauty and a solid reason to go to the first ever ArcTanGent festival. Signed to Skingasm.

Kill RPNZL

https://killrpnzl.bandcamp.com/

An eclectic three piece from Medway mixing elements of post hardcore, post punk and a little bit of math rock to create an off kilter, half-melodic, half- discordant sound. Signed to Skingasm.

Sex Cells

https://www.facebook.com/sexcellsuk/

https://sexcells.bandcamp.com/

Primal synth/drums duo playing simple, gut level pop songs reminiscent of Suicide, The Fall, Gary Numan and St Etienne. Signed to Pretty Ugly Records.

Exoskeletons

https://weareexoskeletons.bandcamp.com/releases

Gorgeous, noisy, mathy , pop tunes from members of Bear Vs Manero, Punching Swans and Lost Film Foundation.  Signed to Skingasm.

Entry is £5.

This year’s festival is dedicated to Louise Micklewright, one of our Homespun Festival founders, who passed away in April this year.  We’re naming our stage The Fudgey Lou Stage in her honour.

We’re back! On Friday 27th May, our friends Shitwife will be returning to play for us at Poco Loco, Chatham. Those of you who were at our Homespun Festival stage last year will remember the frenzied beats and frantic distortion from this London based 2 piece.

‘Shitwife carve out a sound that pulls from Aphex Twin, Venetian Snares, Lighting Bolt and Slayer, a relentless pummelling of monstrous, blast-beating rhythms, crashing cymbals, walls of feedback crescendo, and manipulated guitar samples.’ – Louder Than War

Shitwife – https://shitwife.bandcamp.com/releases

Sweet Deals on Surgery – https://sweetdealsonsurgery.bandcamp.com/releases

Noise-Pop/Thunder-Punk all the way from Manchester. These guys also played our Homespun stage and impressed with their gorgeous multi-vocal melodies and discordant riffs.

”Rawkus – sweet gritty melodies fired out in tasty snapshots of quick fire guitar and urgent but happy vocals – snappy!”. ManchesterMusic.co.uk

Lawn Flamingo – new project from Medway dude Ben Sammon – details to be revealed later!

Frau Pouch – sci fi loving lo fi post punk. For fans of the B52s, Wire, A Frames and Cows.

Entry is free, so please buy lots of booze at the bar so that our bands can be paid well  🙂

Starts at 8.30pm. If you turn up at 11, you’ll have missed most of the bands, so do bear that in mind! We run a tight ship here!

Punching Swans will be playing a gig on Friday 29th January at Poco Loco to celebrate the launch of their new album ‘Nesting’ (out 22nd January), released on Skingasm Records.
They’ll be joined by Girl Power, a super noise hardcore trio from and those sexy riffmongers Bear Vs Manero, also from the stable of Skingasm.
Formed in 2011, Punching Swans are a noised/math/art rock trio from London and Kent. What began as a side project soon became a regular in the Medway DIY scene and they have released 2 albums and a split EP to date. ‘Nesting’ was mostly written shortly after the last album, 2014’s ‘Mollusc’, and honed on tour. Keen spotters out there might notice a not-so-subtle bird theme running throughout, with tracks such as ‘Beak Throat’, ‘Pigeon Street’ and ‘Ostrituals’. Partly inspired by the online Owl-man pranks, as well as The Wickerman and The Birds, ‘Nesting’ follows the story of a man ostracised by his local village and taking up residence in the local woods. His method of escape from the gloom comes via an obsession with transforming himself in to a bird man. As well as the usual CD and download formats, the band are also handcrafting a limited number of ‘Nesting’ books, which display his various sketches and thoughts in a half-journal, half-magical format.

Some of these limited edition hand crafted books will be available at the launch gig, so get them while you can!

Tracks from the forthcoming album have already been played on BBC 6 Music, Kerrang Radio and the Phil Taggart show on BBC Radio 1.

We’d love to see you at the gig, come along and say hi 🙂

Venue: Poco Loco, Chatham, Kent ME4 4DS.

Fri 29th Jan, 8.30pm. FREE ENTRY!

Halloween is our favourite time of year as it gives us the opportunity to dress up and decorate and generally get into the spirit of the season! We always put on a gig at Halloween and this year is no different. We’ll be at the wonderfully supportive Poco Loco in Chatham, where entry is always free and the music can go on until just past Midnight.

We’ve got 3 local bands playing and a band from Canterbury coming down to play for us. It all starts with Simon Williams (The Reactor Core is Splendid) and John Newman (Black Light Brigade) playing together as Motown Fire Department. You can listen to them here: https://motownfiredepartment.bandcamp.com/releases

Then it’s the beautiful weirdness of Honey Ride Me a Goat. Mad jazzy math that gets nice and heavy played by a dude who dons a flashing headset that looks like something out of a Guillermo Del Toro film. Check them out here. https://honeyridemeagoat.bandcamp.com/

Third, coming all the way down the A2 from Canterbury, it’s Mass Lines, who play cool DIY punk influenced by Hot Snakes, Fugazi and The Sans Pareil. Some of them are also in Great Ancestors, a band who played for us in the early days of Motherboy. Go listen to them here: https://mass-lines.bandcamp.com/

Last up, it’s our regulars, Punching Swans, playing their usual heavy wonky punk with surreal lyrics and frantic drums. They played a cover of Ghostbusters at last year’s Halloween shenanigans, which went down a storm. Hopefully they’ll do something similar this year. They’ve been played on Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and XFM recently, so enjoy seeing them in the intimate space that is Poco Loco. Listen here: https://punchingswans.bandcamp.com/

Friday 30th October, Poco Loco, Chatham, 8.30pm til late. FREE ENTRY!!
